Refund & Cancellation Policy

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Effective January 1, 2026

DOT 24-Hour Rule

⚠ Your most important cancellation right — read this first.

Under U.S. Department of Transportation regulations, you have the right to cancel an eligible booking within 24 hours of receiving your booking confirmation for a full refund — with no penalty from TravelFirst.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The booking must be for a flight originating in the United States.
  • The booking must have been made at least 7 days (168 hours) before the scheduled departure date.
  • Cancellation must be requested within 24 hours of booking confirmation.

What You Get

  • Full airfare refund — including base fare, taxes, and carrier charges.
  • Full TravelFirst agency fee refund — no penalty, no deduction.

To exercise this right, contact us immediately at +1 (888) 992-4455 or support@travelfirst.us. Do not wait — the 24-hour window is strictly enforced.

Airfare Refunds

Airfare refunds are governed by the fare conditions of your specific booking and by the policies of the airline or ticketing partner that charged the airfare. TravelFirst does not control airline refund decisions. We will represent your interests and initiate refund requests on your behalf, but the outcome is determined by the carrier's policies and applicable regulations.

(a) Cancellation within the DOT 24-hour window

Full airfare refund. No penalty.

If your booking is eligible under the DOT 24-hour rule and you cancel within the required window, you are entitled to a full refund of all airfare components — regardless of fare type. Contact us to initiate.

(b) Refundable fare — cancelled after the 24-hour window

Airfare refund subject to carrier conditions.

If you purchased a fully refundable fare and cancel after the 24-hour window, you are entitled to a refund of the airfare component subject to the carrier's cancellation procedures. Contact us to initiate the process. Processing times are determined by the carrier — typically 7–20 business days for credit card credits.

(c) Non-refundable fare — voluntary cancellation after the 24-hour window

Airfare is not refunded by the airline for non-refundable fares.

Non-refundable fares do not qualify for a cash refund of the base fare in most circumstances. Depending on the carrier, you may receive:

  • A travel credit or voucher for future use (conditions and validity vary by carrier)
  • A partial refund of government taxes (varies by jurisdiction and carrier)
  • A rebooking option subject to a change fee

We will advise on exactly what your carrier offers for your fare. We cannot override carrier fare conditions.

(d) Airline cancels your flight

You are entitled to a full airfare refund under DOT rules.

If the airline cancels your flight, you are entitled to a full refund of the airfare component — including base fare, taxes, and carrier fees — regardless of fare class. This right exists under U.S. DOT regulations and most carrier conditions of carriage. Contact us and we will initiate the refund process with the carrier on your behalf.

(e) Airline schedule change

Your options vary based on the nature of the change.

If the carrier changes your departure time, routing, or operating carrier by a significant margin (typically 2+ hours, though thresholds vary by carrier), you may be entitled to:

  • Accept the change (no refund)
  • Rebook to an alternative flight at no additional charge
  • Cancel and receive a full airfare refund, even on non-refundable fares

Contact us when you receive a schedule change notification. We will review against your fare conditions and advise on your options.

Agency Fee Refunds

The TravelFirst agency fee covers the professional services rendered in researching, quoting, and booking your travel. The refundability of the agency fee depends on the specific circumstances.

Within the DOT 24-hour window

Agency fee is fully refunded — no penalty.

For eligible bookings cancelled within the DOT 24-hour window, the TravelFirst agency fee is refunded in full with no deduction. See the DOT 24-Hour Rule section above for eligibility details.

After ticket issuance — general rule

Agency fee is non-refundable after ticket issuance.

Once your ticket has been issued and the booking has been fulfilled, the agency fee is non-refundable. The service for which the fee was charged — research, quote preparation, booking coordination — has been rendered.

If you cancel directly with the airline

Agency fee remains non-refundable.

If you cancel your airfare directly with the airline (rather than through TravelFirst), the TravelFirst agency fee remains non-refundable. The airfare refund — if any — is between you and the airline. Our advisory services were already rendered.

If you cancel through TravelFirst

Agency fee waiver — specific circumstances only.

After ticket issuance the TravelFirst agency fee is non-refundable, as the advisory service has been rendered. TravelFirst will consider a full or partial agency fee waiver only where: (a) the delivered itinerary materially differs from the itinerary authorized in writing; (b) a ticketing error attributable to TravelFirst resulted in an incorrect passenger name, date, or routing; or (c) TravelFirst failed to notify you of a fare change before processing a revised amount. To request a waiver, email support@travelfirst.us with your booking reference within 14 days of ticket issuance. Requests outside these circumstances will not be considered.

If TravelFirst cannot complete your booking

Agency fee is fully refunded.

If TravelFirst is unable to complete your booking after payment has been collected — for any reason attributable to TravelFirst — all charges collected by TravelFirst LLC will be refunded in full. You will not be held responsible for a booking that was not fulfilled.
